Privacy

This site is built and run by me personally. It collects as little as it can while still telling me whether anything I write is being read.

There are no cookies, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no social media widgets, and no third-party scripts or fonts. Nothing you do here is shared with or sold to anyone.

Analytics

The visitor statistics are written into this site rather than bought from anyone, so the data never leaves my own infrastructure. There is no Google Analytics and no third-party analytics service.

For each page view I record:

  • the page you visited, with any query string discarded
  • the host you arrived from, never the full address — example.com, never example.com/a/private/page?q=...
  • the country your request came from, as resolved by Cloudflare
  • whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop
  • how long you stayed on the page and how far down it you scrolled

If you follow a link away from the site, I record the destination host only.

How visitors are counted without identifying anyone

Your IP address is never written to the database. To tell one visitor from another within a single day, your IP address and browser name are combined with a secret value that changes every midnight (UTC), and the result is put through a one-way hash. Only that hash is stored.

Because the secret changes daily, the same person visiting on two days produces two completely unrelated values. There is no way to link your visits across days, and no way to work backwards from a stored hash to your IP address.

No cookie and no browser storage of any kind is used for this.

Do Not Track

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is recorded at all.

How long it is kept

Individual rows are kept for 7 days. After that they are combined into daily totals — how many views a page had, which countries visited, and so on — and the individual rows are deleted. Those totals contain no visitor identifiers of any kind.

The contact form

If you send me a message, the name, email address, subject and message you type are emailed to me through Resend, which handles the delivery. The contents are not stored in this site's database.

I use your email address only to reply to you.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare Workers, and its content and images are stored in Cloudflare D1 and R2. As the infrastructure provider, Cloudflare processes requests to the site and may keep its own short-term logs for security and abuse prevention. That is outside my control and is covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Questions, or a request about your data

Write to me through the contact form and I will answer.

Given the above, there is usually very little to hand over or delete: no account exists, no IP address is retained, and analytics data cannot be traced back to an individual. If you have emailed me, I can delete that correspondence on request.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, I will update the date below rather than change it quietly.
